Ramneet Sierra

Ramneet is an articling student at Remedios & Co. She completed her undergraduate studies from the University of Calgary (2010), and obtained her law degree from Thompson Rivers University in (2015).

Prior to law school, Ramneet worked in Ottawa as part of the Government of Canada’s regional economic development agencies that supports the business interests of Western Canada in the national economic policy agenda.  She coordinated with regional partners such as BC Chamber of Commerce, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and Export Development Canada.  She also worked for multinational agricultural company, Agrium Inc., in Calgary.

As a true global citizen, Ramneet has lived and worked in Europe, Asia and Africa. During law school, Ramneet interned at the International Federation of Women Lawyers in Nairobi, Kenya where she advocated for the legal interests of women and children on issues such as gender violence, police corruption and child protection. She submitted legislative amendments and policy recommendations to the Kenyan Parliament, and had the opportunity to present before the United Nations.

Ramneet appreciates Vancouver’s multicultural population and potential for international business and growth.  She speaks Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and Gujarathi, with limited proficiency in French and Norwegian. Outside of law, Ramneet is an avid chess enthusiast and enjoys volunteering with various non-for-profit organisations such as The Elizabeth Fry Society, Immigrant Women’s Association, Women’s Shelters and Civil Liberties Associations.

 

Albert Chiu

Albert brings his enthusiasm and client advocacy experience to Remedios & Co., which he has developed through volunteering with legal clinics, presentations in moots and work with legal practitioners. He currently assists with a wide variety of files, including corporate and commercial law, civil litigation, family law, and immigration law.

Albert completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of British Columbia. He went on to obtain his law degree from the University of Ottawa, where he was an executive for the Asian Law Students Society for two years running. Eager to assist others, Albert volunteered for Pro Bono Students Canada and assisted ACORN Canada and Law Help Ontario throughout law school. He was also a student member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.

 

Ashwani K. Sharma

Ashwani K. Sharma (Ash) joins Remedios and Company for the completion of his articling term, Prior to joining the firm, Ash practised as a criminal lawyer in India for 14 years. appearing before the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.

Ash received his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Rajasthan, and Maters in both, Public Administration and History. Additionally, Ash has spent 10 years as a teacher at various educational institutions around the world. With this background, Ash values the multiculturalism and diversity of British Columbians. He speaks Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and Persian, having worked as a translator for these languages. During his articles, he will be training in the fields of Criminal, Corporate, Immigration and Estate Planning.
