Gary J. Matson

Associate Counsel

Gary Matson is a business lawyer. He has considerable experience in corporate/commercial,  real estate and wills and estates matters. He has a BA in Asian Studies and an MA in Modern Japanese Literature from UBC. Gary graduated from UBC Law School in 1985. He became a lawyer in 1986. He lived in Japan for a total of six years. Gary last resided in Japan from 1978 until 1980 as a research student in graduate studies at Hiroshima University. He is fluent in spoken and written Japanese.

Gary has been an active member of several  Asia related societies or clubs. They include the following: Inter-Pacific Bar Association, Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia, Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce, Kiyukai Vancouver Japanese Business Association, Japanese Canadian Citizens’ Association of Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Mokuyokai Society and Tonarigumi Japanese Community Volunteers Association. He is legal counsel for the Consulate of Japan in Vancouver.
